CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- A group of students from the University of the Assumption here sent an email message complaining the excessive collection of fare by jeepney drivers at the San Fernando-Guagua Terminal in front of the CAP building.

The students who refused to be named said fare collectors are collecting more than the required fare. The jeepneys traverse the San Fernando-Guagua route via Bacolor.

According to the students, fare collectors are asking P15 even if the passenger would just dismount at short distance.

On the other hand, jeepney drivers along the terminal said they are collecting the excess in order to prevent passengers who give pay insufficient amount of fare. They said most drivers agree with this policy and that their leader had approved it.

However, records of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) show that the group has not filed any request regarding their collection of extra jeepney fare.
