CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Prompted by the development of Pampanga as a fast developing community, the Pampanga Provincial Police Office (PPO) has recognized the fact that such development does not only attract investors but also organized crime groups and lawless elements.

As such, the PPO initiated the establishment of police boxes known as “Cambilan,” which aims to post uniformed police personnel among busy areas in the entire province. The Cambilan stations would provide basic police services within their respective areas of concern.

Police Provincial Director Keith Singian said the police boxes will serve as control bases and contact points between the police and the public.

“We must create a feeling of security among our people as well as provide police visibility at all times,” Singian said during the launching of the project last October 15. The Pampanga police chief also said the police should also create a good coordination and working relationship with the Media.

“Police regional offices would be undergoing a seminar that would help them be at ease with the media,” Singian disclosed.

He said the police boxes will have a common façade for easy recall and uniformity. Each Cambilan will be manned by three policemen and two traffic enforcers, who will constantly make the rounds for traffic management.

The Cambilans will be located in populated areas like Sta Lucia in this city near Baluyut Street, Poblacion of Mexico town, San Matias Intersection in Guagua, Dau Intersection and Dau Terminal in Mabalacat, as well as in the Mega Dike in Bacolor area to name a few.

Singian stressed that although the personnel of police boxes are meant to augment police forces in various areas of the province, they still have to coordinate with the Municipal Government, barangay officials, and non-government agencies.

The police boxes will soon be established in strategic areas in the province within the weeks to come. “We hope that these Cambilans would be utilized by our field personnel to their utmost advantage,” Singian said.
