Angeles U offers shorter criminology course for guards

THE Angeles University Foundation (AUF)-College of Criminology is offering a "special" ladderized criminology course for security guards.

The criminology course is in line with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda), which aims to provide interested individuals a way to acquire a criminology course without going through the four-year program.

Rommel Manwong, assistant dean of the College of Criminology, said security guards may avail of the program and take subjects that are in tune with the special course within a span of three to two years.

"The criminology course usually takes a minimum of four years. With this ladderized course, security personnel may acquire a baccalaureate course at a short span of time," he said.

Manwong added that although the course is a "special" program, the tuition and other fees are also in line with AUF tuition rates.

"Usually security guards are just high school graduates, but with this program they can have a degree course that is related to their field and at the same time develop their educational perspective to a wider viewpoint," he said.
